Laptops just keep getting cheaper and cheaper.

Laptops just keep getting cheaper and cheaper.

It is amazing how much prices can drop over a short period of time on technology devices. As production methods advance, items become cheaper to manufacture and the price will usually go down. I bought my first laptop back in 2004 for about $1500. For the time it was a higher end machine. I still saw it in store ads for a few more years and watched as it went down in price from $1500 to $1000 to $800 and somewhere around $600 before it was outmoded from stores. We know that, as consumers we will never win the technology game, as soon as we buy something it will soon be outdated.

On today’s market there is a whole range of great laptops one can get for under a $1000. Many of those machines range in the mid-hundreds. As you know Thanksgiving is this week, and following it the aptly named Black Friday. We all know Black Friday is known for it’s sales and drawing insane crowds of morning shoppers. The surprise this year is the price drops in Hewlett-Packard laptops. In an effort to compete with their fellow computer companies, HP will be offering a $199 laptop at Best Buy stores for the early morning deals. I have also seen some advertising for HP laptops at Staples for $299 and $399. No, I’m not shilling for these companies. I just think it is interesting to see how much prices can change over a few years or even less so now. Now prices just drop every month, as newer models come out.
